Also, any advice for a new Garand owner? I just picked me up one from CMP when I was down south for work a couple of weeks ago. I had them hold off shipping it until I knew I’d be back home to receive it - it was cheaper to ship than bring home (no sales tax), and I didn’t trust it being left at my apartment complex’s reception desk for 2 weeks. It should be arriving tomorrow!

Congrats! My advice is to treat it like what it is: a tool. It was designed for hard use, so enjoy it. That, and avoid M1 thumb.

Thanks! The guy at the CMP said basically the same thing. I try not to treat my guns like crap, but I don’t baby them either. It should be arriving today, I’ll post pictures up when I get it.
